New Rule Pickleball 2022: The Amendments

There are some racket sports that completely work on the pickleball rules and regulations. Especially the racket games they need a complete set of rules to be followed by the players for a better game.

Rulebook revision process:

This process is related to you as you are a member of USA pickleball. The USA pickleball federation is using the public input opportunity and is encouraging the pickleball community for submitting their changes through the email.

The USA pickleball rules committee, the IFP rules committee, and the United States pickleball board of directors have to approve these public suggestions and the final approval is proposed to the USA pickleball board of directors and they give the vote according to their decision.

List of pickleball rule changes for consideration:

There were almost 71 rules that were submitted for the recheck to the USA pickleball rules committee. Amanda 33 was recommended for the consideration and approval to USAP rules committee. And out of 33 only 19 were approved.

The changes were met in the start of 2022 January 1st. below is the list of the regulations that are changed in this year.

Drop serve provisional rule:

The provisional rule for drop serve rule was adopted in 2021. But after 1 year of prohibition this adoption has become now a full pickleball rule. It is no longer a provisional serve rule and it has become permanent from 2022 and onwards.

The addition of dope surf to the menu of the service options has given new players opportunity to become more successful in the game because of lack of using the traditional method properly.

Rejection of rally scoring:

We can say that this pickleball rule pleases traditionalists a lot because from now onwards only the serving team can score points.

Nomenclature of official scoring:

0-0-start did not get any approval. This has not created a problem for the beginners and all the players are going well so far.

Rejection of reinstating the let serve:

If you make a shot and perform the serve then it is still live if it hits the net and land inside the right correct service court above the non volley zone. But they are some casual groups that can still continue reinstating the let serve if they are willing to.

Outlaw of chainsaw serve:

The most of the changes made in the regulations of 2022 are related to the serve. The changes started by banning the chainsaw serve.

According to this change the player can only make the serve with the non paddle hand but if they cannot use their non paddle hand then they can use paddle to flick up the ball and serve.

You are not allowed to import any spin or any toss on your wall with the paddle or the paddle hand. But you can impart spin with the help of non paddle hand if it is only the one hand. One handed spins are going to be a huge thing in this year so you need to watch it out.

Visibility is necessity:

In the game you must be able to see the ball on the toss and drop when you are making a serve to the receiving player and the referee. If not visible then replay will be required to redo the ball.

Gameplay on the wrong score called:

You should not stop play if a wrong score was called. The correction has to be done before the next service is made and the game should continue till the end of the rally. If a player interrupts the play due to the incorrect score being called then whoever interrupted the game has committed a fault.

The comments can be overlooked if anyone mentions the score while the play is on during the pickleball rally.

Extra pickleballs:

Many people like caring additional balls to the play or in the pickleball court no matter if they are in the ball is in the hands or in their pockets.

In 2022 carrying the additional ball is only permitted if the opposition is not able to see the visibly spun ball during the play in pickleball court.

But if you are one of the players who like carrying extra ball then I would like you to watch out because during the relay if you drop a ball you are going to be declared a defaulter of the ball.

No tunes:

According to the new pickleball rule you are not allowed to carry your earbuds or headphones in the competitive events. But yes you can use hearing aids that is suggested by any physician.

But in 2022 and onwards you are not allowed to listen to any music during the play. But if your play is recreational then you can use the headphones.

X red conflict removal:

The officials keep on updating the official rulebook frequently in order to save the integrity of the sport. The referees and the players are asked to revise the official pickleball full rule book in order to avoid any type of risk of conflict.
